Kareena Mcsweeny Obituary, Death – Wednesday, August 17, 2022 found Kareena McSweeny, age 91, passing away in the comfort of her home in Arcadia, California. She was born on the 20th of January, 1931 in the city of Chicago, Illinois, to parents named Robert L. and Mildred T. Sullivan. On August 14, 1954, she wed Robert M. McSweeny, and they moved to California with the first four of their seven children. Three of their children would be born in California. They were quite involved in the St. Elizabeth Parish throughout the time that they were raising their children and spent their entire lives in the Pasadena and Altadena areas.
In the 1970s, Kareena pursued a career as a travel agent and, with the help of her close friends, established her own travel firm known as The Travel Arrangers of Pasadena. Her passion for exploration led her to destinations on every continent. It was something that she and Bob liked doing together, and they made sure to pass this enthusiasm on to their children and grandkids by taking them on numerous cruises. She enjoyed drinking chardonnay with a side of ice, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, playing the role of hostess, watching sports, driving too fast, and laughing. Her spouse, all of her parents, and both of her siblings passed away before she did.
Survived by her children Debbie (Chris) Polchow, Dana (Tracy) Roberts, Kevin (Dawn) McSweeny, Curt (Denny) McSweeny, Robert (Kathi McGoldrick) McSweeny, Matt McSweeny, Amy (Mike) Hasenkamp, her grandchildren Andra, Jamie (Patti), Elizabeth, Steve (Camile), Aubry, Megan (Ignacio), Kyle, Mike, Brian (Alaina), Casey (Matt), Jake, Shannon, Quinn, Drew, her great grandchildren, Hank, Gemma, Dean, Delilah, Julian and Charli and many nieces and nephews. Pat’s deep trust in God, her devotion to her family, and her enthusiasm for exploring new places were the pillars upon which her life was built. A Memorial Service in Honor and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church located at 370 Campus Drive in Arcadia.
