Jackie Daniels Obituary, Death – Jackie Daniels, a star player for the De La Salle GAA & Camogie Club, has passed away. The recent unexpected death of Jackie Daniels has surprised and saddened everyone associated with the De La Salle GAA and Camogie Club. Jackie devoted many hours over many years to her beloved De La Salle GAA Club, and her two sons, Steven and Robert, gave tremendous service to our club as both youth and adult players. Most notably, she acted as first aid officer for several teams over the years in addition to serving on the club’s juvenile committee for many years and organizing many fundraising and social events. Jackie’s compassion and care in that job would have been on full display for hundreds of De La Salle athletes of all ages.
Long hours were spent before, during, and after games caring to our young players’ wounds and ensuring that they received the best possible care. Jackie was most pleased of her boys’ and daughter’s sporting accomplishments; she had three talented athletes in Steven, Robert, and Kate. Jackie managed to support her beloved De La Salle GAA Club while also working full-time and having a young family. She was a longtime employee at Presentation Primary School, and the girls there quickly grew fond of her. She was also an early and consistent supporter of our fledgling Camogie Club.
Jackie was a very gregarious person who enjoyed making new friends at the many hurling and football Feiles she attended as a First Aid Officer across the country. She especially enjoyed the after-match celebrations in the old center. Jackie was always a dedicated club member and followed the games and other events closely, even if she wasn’t actively participating in them herself. Before and after every big game, you could count on receiving an SMS wishing you luck or offering congrats. Everyone at De La Salle GAA and Camogie Club is heartbroken by her untimely loss and will remember her with fondness and gratitude. Our thoughts and prayers are with her grieving mother, Noleen, her siblings Ann and John, and her children, Steven, Robert, and Kate.
