Dan Fairbrother Obituary, Death – Good morning, everyone! We have something rather challenging for you today. This is a message from our instructor, Dana Fogg, and it can be found here: One of my first G4V pupils, Dan Fairbrother, a veteran of the 101st Airborne in Vietnam, passed away on May 6, 2023, after a courageous struggle with cancer. I deliver this news with a heavy heart. Ruff and tuff as a bag of nails, that’s how you could describe Dan.
He was a huge and hefty man. We shared a lot of laughs together throughout our classes since he had a fantastically dark sense of humor that was the ideal complement to mine. Mostly while trying to lay his enormous fingers on the correct strings…it took us a little bit to get it done as he on a lot of days came right from chemo to his lessons (I don’t know how he managed it) also during Covid. It took us a little while to get it done.
It was a really humbling experience for me to hear Dan tell me that G4V was the best therapy he had ever had since returning from Vietnam, and I am pleased that he felt that way. Dan shared this information with me during one of his lessons. The precious expression on his face as he received his brand-new Yamaha guitar at the time of his graduation was…It was a pleasure and an honor for me to get to know you better and create some music with you, my buddy…I am grateful to you, brother, for your service…
