Ben Fournier Missing – A man from Saanich who was last seen more than a week ago is currently the primary focus of the search efforts being led by the RCMP detachment at Shawinigan Lake. The missing person being sought by the police is Bernard “Ben” Fournier, who was last seen leaving his residence on April 16 to go to Nanaimo for business. Since that time, he has not been seen or heard from by anyone. On Monday, the Saanich police department said that they were conducting a search for Fournier. The following day, on Tuesday, the police in Shawnigan Lake said that they would be taking over the investigation. This came after his abandoned vehicle was discovered in a parking lot in the Mill Bay area.
Concerned family members express their lack of contact with the missing woman after she was last seen on Vancouver Island. According to a statement released by the Shawnigan Lake RCMP on Tuesday, “surveillance video further confirmed that Bernard was in the 2700-block of Mill Bay Road between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on April 16, 2023,” which was the last time the missing man was seen by anyone. Fournier is characterized as being a white male who is 62 years old, is 6 feet and one inch tall, and weighs 196 pounds. He is of average build and wears his hair short and gray.
The last time anyone saw him, he was dressed in blue pants, a T-shirt with brown and gray stripes, grey and black running shoes, a vest of a dark color, and spectacles. “Police are concerned for Bernard’s well-being as it is unusual for him to be out of contact with friends and family for such a long period of time, or to leave his vehicle unattended,” stated the RCMP on Tuesday. “Police are concerned for Bernard’s well-being as it is unusual for him to be out of contact with friends and family for so long,” The Shawnigan Lake RCMP is requesting that anyone who may have any information regarding his whereabouts contact them at (250) 743-5514.
