Barry Dwolatzky Obituary, Death – The university of Wits is in a state of mourning following the passing of Professor Barry, who was regarded as South Africa’s “Grand Geek.” Professor Barry Dwolatzky was an innovator, a tactician, a humanitarian, and a passionate Witsie who spent more than half of his life to the University of the Witwatersrand. His contributions to the university include inventions, strategies, and humanitarian work. He was a Witsie who had devoted more than half of his life to wits by the time he died. His passing is a tragic loss for the Wits community, where he had a significant influence on the lives of students, instructors, staff, researchers, academics, industry partners, innovators, entrepreneurs, and friends in a variety of different ways. His passing is a devastating blow to the Wits community. In addition to his numerous achievements and awards, he will be remembered for his humility, his humanity, and his uncanny ability to make each and every person he met paths with feel as if they were the only one in the world.
